About Us

Corrosion and electrochemistry

Taiwan is an island with subtropical climate (high humidity and high chloride contents). As a result, corrosion is of primary concern in many Taiwan industrial sectors, especially the ocean infrastructure. Our research focus on corrosion and corrosion protection of metal, specializing in coating protection and electrochemical measurements. Current projects include the corrosion protection & corrosion monitor of offshore wind turbine, the development of multi-functional coating and enviromental friendly coating. If you are interested in our research, we welecome and are open to students of any backround and experience level.

Research

Corrosion Monitoring

腐蝕大幅降低離岸風機之壽命與安全性,破壞的塗層腐蝕監控技術建立顯得更重要。本研究團隊將自行開發電路系統腐蝕量測儀,藉由量測材料的電化學阻抗性質,評估防蝕塗層之抗蝕性並觀察塗層浸置於腐蝕環境中之劣化行為。

Alloy Corrosion

海洋環境嚴苛,在追求強度的合金之外,更應注意腐蝕對於合金的影響,本研究團隊探討添加不同合金對於鋼的微結構及耐蝕性變化,近一步了解其適用性。

Biological Corrosion

生物腐蝕為小型微生物於物體表面定植,分泌胞外聚合物形成生物膜。
生物膜引發的生物腐蝕造成機械性質受損及船隻航速減緩、油耗增加等負面影響。
本團隊研究方向係利用複合殺菌劑添加於塗層,在合適範圍內對環境污染降到最低,達到最佳抑菌效果並減緩生物腐蝕。

MAGNESIUM ALLOYS

鎂合金擁有比鋁合金更高的比強度,適合具有輕量化需求的結構材料應用,又因資源豐富及可回收等特性,被視為相當具發展潛力的金屬材料。然而,鎂合金易腐蝕的特性往往是鎂合金在應用上的主要限制。近年來,為了提升鎂合金的抗蝕性,各種能夠有效改善其表面特性的表面處理製程都受到廣泛關注,而本團隊以化成處理與微弧氧化製程為主要研究方向。

Lee, Yueh-Lien

Post-doctoral Fellow at Department of Materials Science and Engineering,

Ohio State University Columbus, U.S, (2011/09~2014/7).

Dr. Lee received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from National Central University, Taoyuan, in 2004 and 2005, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from National Taiwan University, Taipei, in 2011. From 2011 to 2014, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow for Fontana Corrosion Center, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, where he was involved in electrochemistry of corrosion, corrosion prediction and corrosion protection. In 2014, he joined National Taiwan University, where he is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Engineering Science and Ocean Engineering. His research interests include corrosion monitoring, surface modification and corrosion resistant coatings.
